In the face of escalating humanitarian challenges in many countries affected by war, poverty, and disasters, the holy month of Ramadan offers a profound opportunity to reinforce the values of solidarity and compassion. Ulfah has diligently launched seasonal food projects during Ramadan in countries like Syria, Yemen, Gaza, and Nigeria. These initiatives aim to support impoverished and displaced families by distributing hot Iftar meals. In these communities, a Ramadan meal is not merely food on a table; it represents renewed hope and a chance to bring joy to the hearts of those in need.
Over 2 Million Beneficiaries in a Decade
Ulfah has focused its efforts on food aid during the blessed month of Ramadan. Over the past years, it has successfully reached over 2,000,000 beneficiaries in the countries it operates in, through its projects distributing hot Iftar meals.
In Syria, Ulfah has maintained a strong presence for over a decade. Ramadan projects began in besieged South Damascus and expanded to include northern rural Aleppo, Al-Bab, Turkman Bareh, Jarabulus, Azaz, Idlib, and Afrin.
152,000 Iftar meals have been distributed across these regions.
Approximately 750,000 people have benefited over the years.
In Ramadan 2024 alone, around 94,000 individuals received aid, helping alleviate the suffering of thousands of displaced and impoverished people and spreading values of solidarity and joy throughout Syrian communities.
Gaza has faced a severe food crisis due to ongoing siege and aggression, and Ulfah has been at the forefront of the response.
276,000 hot meals were urgently distributed to besieged families.
More than 1,380,000 people benefited from these meals.
This initiative helped meet families’ immediate needs and brought hope to homes suffering from food shortages. As one beneficiary affirmed, “Thanks to the daily meals, I was able to feed my children after the difficult situation in the camps.”
In Yemen, where the need for food aid is critical, Ulfah prioritized providing Iftar meals to the most vulnerable families.
3,150 Iftar meals were distributed throughout the month.
This reached 9,450 beneficiaries.
These meals helped alleviate the burden on Yemeni families and brought joy to their hearts during the holy month.
In Nigeria, Ulfah organized a series of collective Iftar meals for students, fostering social cohesion and moral support during Ramadan.
This initiative created a positive and motivating environment for learning and cooperation among students.
A large number of students and those in need benefited, strengthening the spirit of solidarity and participation.
Ulfah’s Ramadan projects have unequivocally proven that humanitarian work can make a real difference in the lives of millions of beneficiaries. Each year, Ulfah continues its noble mission of spreading goodness and generosity, making Ramadan a season of hope and giving in the countries most in need.
